First win for Broadland Boat Club
The club notched up its first win on 15 November this year at the annual Norfolk Long Distance Scullls Head of the River race. This is a processional (timed) race taking place over 2 distances, a long course of 4400m and a shorter one of 2300m. Justin St Ruth and Neil Baker came in first and second respectively in the Novice single sculls event held over the short course in the morning. They also moved up a category to take part in the Senior 4 single sculls on the long course finishing third and fifth. Lawrence Taylor also competed for the club in only his third boat race in a very tough Vet D category (also held over the long course), just missing out on his target of 20 minutes due to a strong head wind.
