Second win for Broadland Boat Club!
Despite freezing temperatures and nearly gale force wind the annual Carrow Cup, one of the oldest rowing races in the country, went ahead on Saturday 13 December. The race starts outside Pull's ferry in the city centre and finishes 4km away outside our own boathouse with mostly crews from the local rowing clubs taking part.
This year, the first in which we've competed as Broadland Boat Club, we had four boats entered; a novice four and a mixed, veteran four in the morning division and two novice doubles in the second division
The only prize the club came away with this time was for the best fancy dress (men's novice four) but, you know, it's the taking part that counts!
Special mention goes to Steve King who competed in his first race with Paul McGregor in one of the novice doubles having only sculled 3 times before finishing the race in a creditable time of 19:00 minutes.
